Dr. Laura Desveaux

Founder & Executive Director, Women Who Lead

Dr. Laura Desveaux aims to close the gap between best practices and what happens in the real world. She is a scientist and physical therapist whose work draws on behavioural psychology and implementation science to conduct policy-oriented evaluations of complex health interventions that aim to optimize care. She is the founder and Executive Director of Women Who Lead, an organization dedicated to support the career advancement and leadership development of women. She is an invited speaker on the topics of leadership, career development, and behaviour change.

Dr. Laura Desveaux is passionate about leadership, mentorship, and accelerating professional development and here are three takeaways:

  • To make your vision a reality – ensure that you have clarity of vision, a team who believes in the vision and full commitment from you and your team
  • No one cares about you like the way you do, so take ownership of your own journey. Empower yourself first and then empower others.
  • As a leader who cares about diversity, consider your circle and choose to be more diverse with who you engage with, draw on the insights of your circle to operationalize diversity and ensure shared responsibility from leadership
