Is coaching for me?

When it comes to coaching, people generally fall into three categories:

  • They don’t want feedback and coaching and are sure they know everything
  • They believe they want feedback and coaching, but their pride and ego prevents them from fully accepting it so the same issues repeatedly arise
  • Actively seeks out feedback and coaching, and takes action. They will do anything to get better and rarely repeat the same mistakes. These are the individuals who become superstars

If you are interested in coaching, reflect on the following traits that will enable a more positive experience for you:

  • Humility: Are you able to admit that you don’t know or can’t do everything?
  • Commitment: Do you demonstrate perseverance and grit when working on a task you committed to?
  • Self-Awareness: Do you recognize or are you willing to recognize how your actions impact yourself and others? 
  • Willingness to Learn: Are you naturally curious and inquisitive? 
  • Vulnerability: Are you willing to be open and expose yourself for your own growth?
