Anne Wojtak

Lead, Integrated Care-East Toronto OHT

Anne Wojtak started her career in the rehab and complex continuing care hospital sector, and held progressively more senior leadership positions in the home and community care sector over 25 years. She was the Chief Performance Officer for the Toronto Central CCAC for 10 years. In 2018, she launched her own consulting practice ‘Adaptive Strategy Partners’ (ASP). Since 2019, she has been supporting the East Toronto Health Partners, one of the first Ontario Health Teams, as their Lead for Integrated Care. She is also a Board member for several organizations, and an adjunct faculty member of the University of Toronto in the Institute for Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation where she teaches healthcare strategy. She has a Doctorate (DrPH) in Public Health Leadership as well as a MHSc in Health Administration.

Anne is a dynamic leader and here are three takeaways:

  • Leaders need to move away from being “the sage on the stage” to the “guide on the side”
  •  If you are a leader and you are afraid of decentralizing power, sharing authority and decision-making, your fear may cause you to hire people who are less competent than you
  • The path to wisdom lies in being able to say four short phrases “I made a mistake”, “I was wrong”, “I need help”, “I don’t know” ( This is a tribute to Anne’s favourite Canadian mystery author, Louise Penny)
