Miri has 30 years of experience in all aspects of real estate, more than 15 years of experience in the seniors housing sector, and is currently leading the work for Yee Hong to build a culturally appropriate portfolio of retirement communities geared towards Asian Canadian seniors. She was previously President at Greenwood Retirement Communities where she helped build Greenwood from 2 retirement homes to a portfolio of 8 homes and a team of 500 employees. She has a passion for people, and believes that her “superpower” is her faith in people and their good intentions.
Miri believes leadership is all about working in teams, building relationships, and helping people shine, and here are three takeaways:
- Don’t try to be the smartest person in the room; be curious and ask questions to learn.
- Leadership is a relationship with other human beings, and we all crave love, attention and appreciation. Always try to look at things from the other person’s perspective.
- Done is better than perfect : stop aiming for perfection in everything
